TECH KEY USB WiFi Adapter My Review

My Wi-Fi card had stopped functioning so I had to find a replacement. I wanted a Wi-fi USB Adapter for Windows 10.

When searching online, I came across TECHKEY USB Wi-Fi Adapter AC1200 series on Amazon and while most of the Wi-Fi Dongle were in the $5-10 USD range, this TECHKEY USB Wi-Fi Adapter AC1200 series was a bit on the higher end about $20-30 USD. 

After reading the reviews and specifications, I decided to give it a shot and made the purchase.

Within 3 days, I received the TECHKEY USB Wi-Fi Adapter AC1200 series in the mail and it was in a nice plastic box. Apologies for not having the photo, I tossed it out prior to writing this review.

The TECHKEY USB Wi-Fi Adapter AC1200 series came with a manual, CD driver, antenna and USB dongle.

Setup & Configuration

The antenna and USB dongle (memory stick) comes as two separate pieces. To assemble the TECHKEY USB Wi-Fi Adapter AC1200 series, you simply take the end of the antenna and screw it to the USB dongle. 

There’s no special configuration when connecting to Microsoft Windows, as it’s a plug-and-play. Simply plug the USB dongle into a USB 3.0 slot and Windows should detect it. 

The TECHKEY USB Wi-Fi Adapter AC1200 series does come with a driver CD, just in case your system does not have the driver.

TECHKEY USB Wi-Fi Adapter AC1200 series is compatible with Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7 and 2000; Windows Vista; Windows XP and Mac OS/10.4-10.15. It does not support Linux.

Performance

Prior to purchasing the TECHKEY Wi-Fi USB dongle, and was connecting through a built-in wireless network card on the motherboard. 

The connection was fairly good, occasional 3 or 4 bars with the wireless router located about 15 feet away.

With the TECHKEY USB Wi-Fi Adapter AC1200 series, we’re often getting 4 to 5 bars which was very impressive. 

For best results, the USB dongle should be plugged into the usb ports behind the computer to ensure it receives enough power.

Due to it’s fast and consistent connection speed, and simple setup, the TECHKEY USB Wi-Fi Adapter AC1200 series receives a score 5 out of 5 from TGR.

Quick Look

As you can see, this was the lowest connection speed we received all week, but was consistently with 5 bars. The TECHKEY USB Wi-fi outperformed the built-in Wi-fi card.

I was a bit skeptical with how much the wi-fi speeds could improve. When shopping around, I just wanted to find a wi-fi adapter that would get me on the Internet. To my surprise, the TECHKEY USB Wi-Fi Adapter AC1200 series exceeded my expectations.

If you are looking for a very fast performing USB Wi-fi adapter for Windows or Mac OS, you should consider the TECHKEY USB Wi-Fi Adapter AC1200 series. For a few extra bucks, you can have yourself a very strong wi-fi connection with super fast speed.
